Hygge Living: Warm Up your Home this Winter

Centered around wellness, coziness and creating a serene atmosphere for family and friends to relax in, Hygge living has been embodied in Danish culture since the 18th century, and now you can apply these inspiring décor ideas in your home.

Think of a candle-lit sanctuary, cozy nooks to retreat to, a mix of different comfy textures, minimalism and lastly, natural materials.

In this article, I go over the tips and tricks to make sure your home is at maximum coziness for the rest of this winter.

I’ve also included direct links so that you can shop the look and make your Hygge desire an interior reality, just click on the image and it will take you right to the website.

Ambiance

Consider including a wide array of different light sources in the room, from floor lamps, to table lamps and of course lots of candles. For light in your space, remember to use soft hues with warm tones in your lighting, so the room doesn’t feel too bright and cold.

Check out these delish candles below and this stunning natural concrete base lamp below to help warm up your space this winter.

Cozy Nooks or ‘Hyggekrog’

What’s cozier than a little nook that you can retreat to and read a book? An egg hanging chair or a comfy lounge chair layered with pillows and blankets is one way you can enjoy an afternoon of peace and serenity this winter.

Linked below are super cozy throw blankets and soft pillows you can snuggle up with.

Mixing Décor Textures

Layering rugs, sheepskins, large fluffy pillows, and loads of blankets is what you need this winter. It’s pretty freaking cold – so huddle up and warm up by layering with lots of different warm, feel good textured materials in your home for that Hygge living.

Banishing Clutter

One thing that Hygge embodies is a decluttered space and a peaceful colour scheme. Think the minimalism of Nordic style with more texture and warmth.

Ottomans and baskets can be used to store your extra pillows and blankets when you’re not using them, which serves as a great look as well. Store odds and ends, or other miscellaneous décor items that you may not want to see every day in a credenza, so that your room doesn’t look like it’s piling up with “stuff”.  You want your area to feel minimal and peaceful.

I’ve included 2 basket sets for you below as well as a planter that can most definitely be used to store blankets as well! All three are perfect ways to help declutter your space.
