Transitional & Coastal Home Office Design
Your home office should be a place that inspires you.
When I feel inspired, I get more work done and I am so much more productive. I believe having a well decorated office can hold tremendous value for your success, whatever that may be.

When decorating your office, it should reflect your personality but also stay cohesive to the rest of your home. However, you do have more freedom in this space, so the items that you may not want to display in your living area, bring them into your office!
I thought since some of us are working from home during this quarantine, it would be nice to put together a design board of a dreamy office that would hopefully inspire. There are several different ways you can furnish your office, depending on how much space you have. Some common items in an office other than of course your desk and chair are a console table, credenza, tall cabinet, and reading nook with a comfy chair.
As many of you may know, at Sabina Interiors, incorporating natural materials in my designs is a must. I also love to mix different styles as well. A quick tip on mixing different design style is to choose one as your dominant style, let’s say Transitional and have the other one as an accent style to compliment the dominant style, such as Modern, Coastal, Cali Casual, Mid-century etc.
So, what would the dominant pieces of the room be? The larger more prominent furnishings of the room - your desk, console table, cabinet or credenza. Then your accents would be parts of your décor, lighting and your rug.
Concept Board Design
For today’s design board, I wanted to mix two styles together, transitional and coastal. Ever since I moved south, I loveee coastal design. Not particularly nautical, but coastal, so I love to incorporate materials such as cane and weave as well as include soft blues and whites.
I am in love with this mood board I whipped up, it has a slight feminine touch, perfect for an entrepreneurial boss babe.
Suited for any age, this versatile home office has elements of transitional style such as the elegant, minimalist silhouette of the desk or the streamlined swivel armchair. I paired the desk with a rattan framed chair for a more relaxed feel and it pairs beautifully with the cabinet with cane and a black frame.
I decided to mix brass and black metal in this space, and I oh so love it! The brass flush mount combined with the brass hardware on the desk match wonderfully. While the black floor lamp ties in well with the black frame on the cabinet.
The blue rug and the beachy print give this space another touch of that breezy feel we are going for and the light natural tones of the side table, throw pillow make this space feel both approachable and organic.
